The wetland reconnaissance layer was created from current and historical aerial photography, LiDAR, soils, topo layers, drainage layers, and stream layers. For some of these areas, field investigations were conducted, while for others office review of available layers were used to determine high probability of wetland presence. This layer should be used as a general indicator and does not represent a site specific delineation.
As part of the Comp Plan Update process, the City of Bellingham contracted with Northwest Ecological Services (NES) to provide additional information on wetlands, streams, and habitats in the northern portion of the City and UGA, an area with limited and uneven information on critical areas.
The scope of this project consisted of two distinct tasks: (1) inventory and assessment of critical areas, and (2) identification of potential mitigation sites.
