Contours is a line featureclass which contains the City of Bellingham's elevation information. The contour interval is 5 feet.
For determining elevations, relative and absolute of locations and geographic features within dataset extent. Can also be used for inferring slope angle, aspect, and land form shapes.

Tests for integrity have not been performed.
All contours are continuous lines (no gaps)
Data were collected using methods that are accurate to within 1 meter (EPA National Geospatial Data Policy [NGDP] Accuracy Tier 1). For more information, please see EPA's NGDP at http://epa.gov/geospatial/policies.html)
Photogrammetric aerotriangulation report
Elevations are reported in elevation above sea level in feet based on NAVD 88/91. +/- 2.5 feet (0.76m) in areas where ground was visible when original lidar and/or photogrammetric data were collected. Accuracy in forested areas and other ground-obscured areas depend upon topographic variability, canopy density, lidar sensor performance, and/or interpretive work performed by photogrammetric technician when generating "form lines". (see processing steps)
Photogrammetric report for mass points and breaklines used as source data for contour generation.
Dataset is comprised of topographic contours at 5 foot intervals generated from a terrain model comprised of the best available topographic sources for the dataset extent. Primary dataset is the 2006 USGS Lidar data. Secondary sources used to augment and/or correct the lidar data include 2002 City of Bellingham photogrammetric mass points and breaklines (originally collected by Triathlon Inc. under contract to the City), as well as AutoCAD DXF contour data (primarily at 2' intervals) from Port of Bellingham, Bureau of Reclamation, Whatcom County, and other sources. Secondary data used to correct lake and marine shoreline areas where Lidar data was of particularly poor quality (low density), or had sensor errors (bad returns). Dataset will continue to be updated as better topographic information becomes available.
Attributes contain elevation information in US Feet. An index attribute tracks 5 and 25 foot intervals, and a source attribute documents origin of topographic information for specific areas.
